Family Relations Class Week #13

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s blog post on my family relations class.  I hope that you’ll be able to learn something new from my blog post today just as I learned new things from my family relations class this past week. During last week’s blog post I talked about parenting. We learned about the different ways that parents teach their children and help them grow. This past week during my family relations class we talked about divorce. Today I would like to share with you what I have learned about divorce and the different reasons people get a divorce. The first reason for getting a divorce is money. Spouses who are reckless with credit cards can run up large debts without the knowledge of their spouse. One spouse can make considerably more than the other which can lead to resentment and control issues. Money can be especially important to the degree that you don’t have it. When one spouse or the other loses a job or significant unexpected financial setbacks take place

Family Relations Class Week #12

Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s blog post on my family relations class! I hope that you’ll be able to learn something new from my blog post today just as I learned new things from my family relations class this past week. During last week’s blog post I talked about the importance that fathers have in the lives of their children. This past week in my family relations class we talked about parenting. We learned about the different ways that parents teach their children and help them grow. During my blog post today I would like to talk about effective steps for parenting. The first step is boosting your child’s self-esteem. Even at a very young age kids start developing their sense of self as they see themselves through the eyes of their parents. The tone of voice, body language, and facial expressions are all absorbed by children. Because of this, the words and actions of a parent highly affect the development of self-esteem of a child. The second step is to catc

Family Relations Class Week #11

Hello everyone and welcome to my 11th blog post about my family relations class. I hope that all of you have a great week and are ready to learn more about what I have learned from my family relations class this past week. Last week I spent a great deal talking about communication and how we can utilize the five secrets of effective communication. This week I would like to talk about fathers and the many reasons they are very important to their children. To start off I would first like to talk about the father’s role of education in the children’s lives. Fathers tend to have a strong interest in the lives of their children. Statistically it is shown that when they see their father regularly, they are more likely to achieve better results while in school. Children with an actively involved dad score higher on tests of verbal and mathematical ability, and show greater problem-solving abilities and social skills. Another reason the role of fathers is very important is the b

Family Relations Class Week #9

Hello everybody! I hope you all have had a wonderful week. I know my week was pretty good despite getting closer and closer to finals and end of semester projects. However we’re not here to talk about myself, we’re here to talk about what I’ve learned in my family relations class. Last during my family relations blog post I talked about affairs and the different types of affairs and how they can affect families. This week I would like to talk about the different types of stressors. I would also like to talk about how different types of stressors can affect the family. Stressful life events, or life event stressors, are undesirable, unscheduled, nonnormative, and/or uncontrollable discrete, observable events with a generally clear onset and offset that usually signify major life changes. Stressful life events have significant negative consequences for both physical and psychological well-being. The first type of stressor is a physiological stressor. These stressors can come from pr

Family Relations Class Week #8

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog about my family relations class. Last week I talked about the differences between courtship and dating as well as the different ways and reasons the people date for. For today’s blog post I would like to talk about affairs, the different types of affairs, and the effects of affairs on relationships. When I look up the definition of infidelity it says: “the action or state of being unfaithful to a spouse or other sexual partner.” Now let’s go ahead and talk about the four different types of affairs. Affairs can be categorized based on the type of involvement whether that be emotional or physical and the level or relational attachment whether that be attached or detached. Based on this there are four different types of affairs: fantasy, visual, romantic, and sexual. This being said, it does not take two people for infidelity to occur. Oftentimes, affairs can be committed within the mind or heart of someone who is married with no participat

Family Relations Class Week #6

Hello everyone and welcome back to this week’s blog post about my family relations class! Last week in my blog post I talked about the differences between men and women. These differences are more than just the physical, as I talk mostly about the mental differences such as the way they act as well as interact. In this week’s blog post I will be talking about dating, the culture of dating, and the things we should look for in another person while dating.  One of the biggest things that I learned about this week is the difference between dating and courtship. Did you know that being in a relationship such as boyfriend and girlfriend moving towards marriage is known as courtship, not dating? To be completely honest with you, until we talked about it in class this week, I didn’t. I may have never heard of that term simply because of where I grew up or maybe because of the family I grew up in. Maybe I was just sick the day that was taught or something. Anyways, there is a difference be

Family Relations Class Week #5

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog about my Family Relations class. Last week we talked about family systems and how they can change when a family moves from one part of the world to another. These changes can take place through different means such as the family living separately and the journey it can take to move from one place to another. This past week during class we talked about some rather controversial topics such as what can make a man and a woman different and same-sex attraction. Though I will not be sharing my personal opinion on both of the matters, I simply wish to relate to you what was talked about in my class.                To begin, let’s start off by talking about the differences between a man and a woman. In class we made a list of differences that are noticeable between men and women. When it comes to women we see that they can be more relation based, detail oriented, cooperative, gentle, creative, verbal, connective thought process, and have
